LAUNCHED!

LAUNCHED!

The second most important launch happened recently and there's been lots of fuss about it, pictures from the far side of the moon all that. And yeah, yeah ok Artemis, very impressive. Meanwhile the MOST important launch - that of the Pareidolls debut single Jessie was also taking place. Two launches in fact. One in London at the historic Water-Rats (the first venue to host the London performances of Bob Dylan, Oasis and The Pogues among others - of course it was called the Pindar of Wakefield then and in my world it still would be. Karl Marx used to live there actually. As did my mate Pete but that's another story - many other stories in fact) Anyway at the Water-rats the 'dolls came down from Liverpool and BLEW THE PLACE APART. They were MAJESTIC. It's the only word. These songs rock. And they roll. They channel the spirit and energy of The Go-Gos, The Donnas, Girlschool, and The Bangles. They hit as hard as any of those. And they're fun too. Lyrically acute, politically astute and musically unstoppable. Then three days later they instigated an Easter Rising back in their home town. Filling the sweaty tube that is Heebie-Jeebies Tunnel with psyched up enthusiasts. If anything their reception was wilder, more tumultuous than at the London show. And they're still only EIGHTEEN. They have EXAMS. Fact, it's probably only the need to lock away the guitars in order to revise that is preventing them taking over the world. It will happen. And when it does this single will be a rare and prized collectors item. We have less than fifty here. You know what to do.   (pic Pareidolls at Heebie-Jeebies, by Rob Russell)
